The Aerodrome El Jarde – Antigua.
About 15 years ago, a local flying enthusiast, Domingo Urquia Melian, began with the construction of a small airfield for ultra light aircraft. The idea was to connect Antigua with Los Alares and Triquivijate. After completion there was a hangar to stow 3 small planes and an ultra light helicopter, called “autogiro”, and a bar that serves to both, meeting place and class room. Flight planning is done here too.Unfortunately Domingo never could enjoy his project as he died too soon. Today, his son, Aridane took over the honours as the manager of the airfield, but also as a certified and skilled pilot. Every weekend, when the weather allows it, he is heading into the sky. Ismael is then keeping everything on the ground under control.
Aridane has 2 ultra light planes, a fragile-looking, but sturdy red plane where you almost sit outside and get the “full experience of freedom” as there are no doors (of course you are well strapped into your chair) and which allows you to take the best pictures, and the “Coyote”, also a two-seater but where you are sitting in a real cabin.

On the road Castillo-Pozo Negro, go direction Antigua and follow the board “Aerodromo El Jarde”. Head for the green roof of the hangar or the red one for the class room.
