Balancing your alkaline-acid level in your body.
The acid-alkaline level in a human body varies according to the tissue. The stomach contains acid, whereas the saliva is alkaline. The acid-alkaline level changes with the intake of food and beverage and its effect on blood and urine acidity due to excess of malnutrition can be measured.
The digestion of proteins and the respiration generate acids. Kidneys regulate the acid level caused by nutrition and lungs regulate the carbon dioxide level in the blood. Scientific studies concluded that about 80% of the inhabitants of the industrialised world show a modified acid-alkaline level. The most common symptoms are permanent tiredness and weakness, increased sensitivity to infections, muscle tension and cramps, headaches, digestive problems or stomach burn. The major causes have been identified as (mal)-nutrition like excess meat, alcohol, nicotine, caffeine and fat, and wrong life style like a lot of stress and lack of exercise.
Here are some food suggestions to keep you acid-alkaline balance in the “green zone”: fresh vegetables, fruits, yoghurt, fresh and UHT milk, black tea, still water, cane sugar, soy sauce, honey, olive oil. One of the most important minerals to neutralise the acidity of the blood is Calcium. If your diet tends to be highly acidic, then your body will slowly but steadily capture the missing Calcium out from your bones, teeth, and tissue and you will face problems with osteoporosis, caries, anaemia, digestion, general weakness, etc
Other factors that create acidity, besides malnutrition, are medication, a negative attitude, stress, etc…
Some food that create acidity are: meat, its derivates and animal products like dairy products; sausages, eggs, white sugar, pastry, refined flour (especially of wheat), canned and frozen products, coffee, alcohol, nicotine, fizzy drinks, vinegars, etc
Alkaline foodstuffs are: vegetables with green leaves (it is advisable to consume them raw or liquefied trough a mixer and without containing pesticides. In this way, a rapid assimilation of the chlorophyll, vitamins, minerals and fibres is guaranteed), and integral cereals, soy and its derivates, marine algae, grains or germinated seeds, miso, prunes umeboshi, avocado, pure olive oil with lemon, lemon, carrots, CALABAZA, clean and purified water and low-sweet fruits.
You don’t have to fully avoid acid food, but just to keep an eye at the acid balance of your nutrition which should be 80% alkaline and 20% acid in order not to become ill.
